Text information from NRHP nomination of 1982
Charles Parker House entered on the NRHP 10 November 1982
Application file # 20; National Register Guilderland Multiple
Resource Area # 30.
Located at Parker's Corners; surrounded by other farms.
Features: Large, two and one-half story farmhouse with
Italianate details; bracketed cornice, gabled roof with lantern and
four symmetrically placed chimneys; recessed entrance with transom
and side lights; one-story porch with hipped roof and unusually
crafted columns; the interior retains much of the original detail.
Date of initial construction: ca. 1844
Historical and Architectural importance: This large,
Italianate farmhouse was built for New York City businessman Charles
Parker as a summer residence. Parker was one of the first downstate
residents to choose Guilderland as a country home. The building is
an early example of an Italianate style residence. Large brackets
lining the cornice and a central cupola are characteristic of the
style. The front porch features unusual carved porch posts. The
building survives intact amidst modern suburban development.
Relative to such surroundings it is of exceptional architectural
significance.
