Text information from NRHP nomination of 1982
Sharp Farmhouse entered on the NRHP 10 November 1982
Application file # 17; National Register Guilderland Multiple Resource Area # 29
Located on Western Turnpike at Sharp's Corners along the Normans Kill.
Features: The L-shaped house with gable roof has unusual detailing of carved exposed framing and a small ocular window in the gable ends. The one-story porch on the front (south side) also has cut-out brackets and carved base; some of the original interior woodwork and detailing is intact.
Date of construction: ca. 1875
Historical and Architectural importance: This house is believed to have been built for a member of the Sharp family for which the crossroads are named. Although the land is no longer farmed, the house and large barn to the east retain the integrity of the original farm complex. The main building features stick style exterior studs and sills, an exterior chimney, verge-boards, and intricate fan brackets. The details are intact and distinguish the building from modern suburban development infringing on the community. The farm complex is representative of the agrarian community of Guilderland in the nineteenth century.
