Information for McKownville residents about the NY State COVID-19
testing site on the University at Albany campus
The McKownville Improvement Association has been alerted by
officials of the University that starting Monday, April 6, the
Colonial Quad parking lot on the Uptown Campus will be converted by
New York State into a drive-through COVID-19 testing site.
Preparations will begin this weekend, and the site is expected to
open at 10 a.m. Monday. Thereafter, it will be open Monday to
Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Testing at this site will be by appointment only, and no walk-up
testing will be permitted.
Unless you have an appointment to be tested, the University
requests that you avoid the northwest corner of campus as it
may become congested at times.
Aside from a change in traffic flow in the northwest corner, the
testing site is expected to have minimal impact on campus operations
and poses no direct health risk to the campus or the surrounding
community.
Please see the University announcement for more specific
information, and a map showing the traffic rearrangements; in
particular note that the northwest quadrant of the uptown campus
will be blocked to traffic not related to the test site.

Elsewhere on the University campus, and unrelated to the testing
site, please note that the tennis and basketball courts adjacent to
the Dutch Quad parking lots have been closed to encourage those who
visit campus to maintain appropriate social distancing.
Additionally, the University requests that visitors adhere to the
guidance of state and local health officials and maintain
appropriate social distance while using green spaces and walking
paths within the campus.
