- 2026 McKownville Tree Planting Program
The Association is sponsoring a tree planting opportunity
this year:
- orders and payment must be received before 1st August 2026;
trees will be delivered for planting in mid-October.
Five tree species are available to order; three suitable for
height-restricted sites under utility lines, and two for
unrestricted sites.
All are native cultivars. All trees will be supplied bare root, and
will be at least 1 1/4” caliper and 5’-8’ tall.

Trees under 30' high at maturity

Amelanchier laevis 'Cumulus' - Serviceberry

A small tree with four seasons of beauty and functionality. Delicate
white blooms, edible summer fruit and yellow to red fall color.
25’H x 15’W. Pine Bush recommended planting.

Crataegus viridis 'Winter King' - Hawthorn

a mid-sized ornamental tree with delicate blooms of white flowers,
purple and scarlet fall color and followed by small red fruits.
Disease resistant. 25’H x 20’W.

Malus spp. 'Harvest Gold' - Crabapple

A beautiful crabapple with four seasons of appeal. White flowers
with a hint of pink followed by glossy dark green leaves,
tiny yellow fruit last through the winter until eaten by birds.
Highly disease resistant. 30’H x 15’W.
Trees over 30' high at maturity (Do not plant under or near power
lines)
Both have deep tap roots, and need more water while getting
established. They will not disrupt sidewalks.

Prized for it’s fiery scarlet fall color and uniform branch
structure. Grows 1’-2’ a year. 35’H x 20’W.

Quercus coccinea - Scarlet Oak
